No account needed

You can use EquityTale without signing up. We don’t ask for your name, email or phone number to browse companies or run the screener.

What we store

• On your device. Your display preferences — the light / dark theme and the Story / Quant mode — are saved in your browser’s local storage so the site remembers them next time. They stay on your device.
• On our servers. Like most websites, our servers keep basic technical logs (for example IP address, browser type, the pages requested and timestamps) so we can run the Service securely and diagnose problems.

Cookies and tracking

We set no cookies of our own. Your display preferences — light / dark theme, Story / Quant mode, and whether the sidebar is collapsed — are kept in your browser’s local storage, which stays on your device and is never sent to us. We run no analytics product and no cross-site tracking of our own.

The ads described below are the one exception, and they are served by Google rather than by us.

Advertising

Some pages carry ads from Google AdSense. They pay for the filings crawl and the servers, which is what keeps the site free and account-free. You will find them on company pages that have filed financials, the daily market brief and IPO pages — never on the screener, the home page, the glossary, the methodology or these legal pages, never on a company page we hold no financials for, and never as pop-ups, overlays, floating bars or ads that appear between one page and the next.

To do this, Google and its partners may read and write cookies or similar device identifiers in your browser. Those are used to choose which ad to show, to limit how often you see the same one, and to measure whether it worked. Depending on your browser and the choices you have made, the ad may be personalised — chosen partly from your previous activity on other websites — or contextual, chosen only from what the page you are reading is about. We never send Google anything you do on this site beyond the address of the page the ad appears on, and we do not give any advertiser your personal information.

You can turn personalised advertising off, for Google ads everywhere and not just here, at My Ad Center. Ads will still appear, but they will be chosen from the page rather than from you. How Google uses data from sites that show its ads is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. An ad blocker also works perfectly well here — nothing on this site is hidden behind one being switched off.

If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area, you will be asked to make a choice about this before any advertising cookie is set, and you can change that choice at any time. Readers elsewhere, including in India, can use the My Ad Center link above.

How we use information

We use the limited information above only to operate, secure and improve the Service. We do not sell or rent your personal information.

Sharing

We may share limited technical information with the providers that host and run the Service, or where we are required to by law. Apart from that, and apart from the advertising described above, we don’t share it with anyone else — and we never sell it.

Company data on the Service

The financial information shown is about public companies and comes from NSE / BSE filings and public disclosures. It is information about those companies, not personal data about you.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the Service, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

EquityTale is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows when it last changed.
