Questions people actually ask
Is EquityTale investment advice?
No. EquityTale is an educational tool, not a registered investment adviser or research analyst. Nothing here tells you to buy, sell or hold any share, and we never publish buy / sell / target-price calls — see the disclaimer for the full statement.
Where does the data come from?
Every number comes from a filing made to India's stock exchanges or an official company notice — never a guess from a third party. If a figure looks wrong, tell us the company and the number you expected, and we can check whether the filing said something unusual or our reading of it was wrong.
What is the EquityTale Health Score?
A score from 0 to 100 that looks at six things about a company — profit, balance sheet, cash, growth, valuation and governance — and compares them with similar companies. If there isn't enough data to check most of these, the company gets no score at all, instead of a misleading one.
Is EquityTale free to use?
Yes. There's no account, no paywall and no subscription — search a company or open the screener and the analysis is there.
Can EquityTale tell me whether to buy or sell a stock?
No. That decision, and the risk that comes with it, is yours alone. EquityTale explains what a filing says; it does not tell you what to do about it.
What is the Story ⇄ Quant toggle?
Every company page can be read two ways. Story explains it in plain sentences. Quant shows the same thing as raw numbers and ratios. You can switch between them any time — the numbers stay the same, only how they're shown changes.
Can I compare a company against similar companies?
Yes. Every company page compares it with similar companies, so you can tell if a number is good for that industry — not just on its own.
Does EquityTale cover IPOs before they list?
Yes. An issue is covered from its draft offer document onward, before it even opens for subscription — not just after it starts trading.
Do I need an account to use the screener or calculators?
No. Nothing on EquityTale needs a login — the screener, every calculator, and every company page work the same for a first-time visitor as a returning one.
What if I find a mistake in the data?
Write in with the company and the figure you expected. Every number traces back to a filing, so that's usually enough to tell whether the filing itself said something unusual or our reading of it was wrong.
